Connected Appliances bring many benefits. In addition to enabling additional user features, connected appliances can also play a key role in supporting safe appliances by providing a pathway to identify where appliances are located and a route to ‘over the air’ communication and software delivery.

Producers of Connected Appliances have a responsibility to ensure that connections are secure to safeguard consumers’ cybersecurity as well as safe usage. Data management and security and compliance with data protection regulation is also a mandatory requirement.

AMDEA leads on many strands of work relating to Connected Appliances and represents the industry within UK and International working groups.
