It is now nearly a year since the Joint Trade Associations Group (JTA) met to agree a proposal for the Compliance Fee Methodology for 2014. The UK WEEE Regulations 2013 allow for such a fee but the Government approves a fee methodology (and the organisation to administer it) for one year at a time. So another proposal has to be submitted by the end of September 2015 and BIS has revised their guidance on how to do this.
We understand that the current JTA proposal has worked very well but we are aware that those who preferred the previous system will be putting alternative suggestions to BIS.
The JTA sub-group that prepared the 2014 submission is considering the new guidance and designing their 2015 submission accordingly. All proposals will then be subject to a consultation period before an announcement is made early in 2016.
