The European Commission is asking for views on the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Regulations for refrigeration products, dishwashers, washing machines, televisions, computers and lamps.
The current product-specific Ecodesign Regulations have several tiers of implementation that have all now taken effect for white goods. So now the EU is looking for another round of requirements to reduce the environmental impacts of energy-using products even further. In tandem, the new Energy Labelling Regulation published last year means that there will be changes to energy labels too.
The consultation is open until 7 May 2018. Any comments will be taken into consideration as the politicians continue their discussions of the draft Regulations.
