Regular readers will know that AMDEA has long been involved with efforts to design and promote qualifications for appliance installers and service engineers.

The HEEST Forum worked with City & Guilds and SummitSkills to secure a set of qualifications that were then incorporated into an apprenticeship. With the announcement of the new English “Trailblazers” we had to go back to the drawing board and amend the qualifications to meet the new system’s requirement.

During National Apprenticeship Week, Gower College, Swansea announced that they were now able to offer a new apprenticeship for appliance engineers. The course covers the installation and servicing of a range of domestic and/or commercial equipment including both white and brown goods.
