On 10 January 2017 CECED (the European Committee of Domestic Equipment Manufacturers) launched its report Home Appliance Europe 2015-2016.
The report gives details of just how much the domestic appliance industry contributes to Europe. It looks at the value of its economic impact, both in terms of growth and jobs, as well as its role in reducing the impact of European citizens on the environment.
The industry’s turnover was estimated to be around €43.8bn in 2013. Almost a million European jobs depend on the sector and we represented 3% of all EU manufacturing employment in 2014.
And, of course, in terms of energy efficiency savings our industry is still having a massive impact, with a 6% improvement just in the two years between 2011 and 2013.
