On 21 March the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee of the European Parliament (IMCO) considered the latest amendments to draft legislation for consumer contacts on-line.
Members had tabled 346 amendments to the Commission’s draft, among which were suggestions for more consumer choice as to remedies; extended time limits for making claims, reinstating a time limit on consumers notifying retailers, and removing minor defects as a reason for cancelling a contract. They also wanted to make the Directive fully harmonised, as originally proposed. The vote is scheduled for 8 June 2017.
