The European Commission is developing guidelines to assist in the implementation of the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Regulations for vacuum cleaners, cooking appliances, water heaters and space heaters. They have also published transitional measurement methods for water and space heaters pending the availability of the harmonised standards.

The Ecodesign Regulations for certain lamps are being amended. There are concerns about the revised definition of “special purpose” products and whether this will still include items such as the lamps used for oven illumination.

And the National Measurement Office’s latest market surveillance project has been looking at the energy label declarations for ovens.
