The new Energy Labelling Regulations for fridge-freezers, washing machines and washer-dryers, dishwashers, lamps and TVs are all due to be published in early December. They will be supplied from 1 November 2020 alongside the existing labels which they will replace on 1 March 2021.
The new labels have an A-G scale but there will be no A-rated appliances to begin with, nor will there be a G-rated fridge-freezer on the market. There will still be pictograms, though some will differ from the ones we know now and each label will contain a QR Code linking to the new European database. This went live in January this year and will be accessible to consumers once the remaining glitches are resolved.
AMDEA is currently in discussions with other stakeholders about ways in which we can explain the changes to retailers and consumers.
