The new F-Gas Regulation applies from 1 January 2015. It limits the total amount of certain F-gases that can now be sold in the EU, with further reductions until 2030. It also bans outright the use of F-gases in some new equipment where less harmful alternatives are widely available; and requires checks, proper servicing and recovery of the gases at the end of the equipment’s life.
Defra had consulted on the legislation required to enforce the new Regulation in the UK. They have now published some guidance as well as more detailed information.
The deadline for the reporting obligations in Article 19 of the Regulation (517/2014) is the end of this month. There is an on-line reporting tool on the European Commission’s website.
We will be providing more detailed information for members in this month’s TechNews but if anyone has any questions in the meantime please e-mail Stuart MacConnacher: Stuart.MacConnacher@amdea.org.uk.
