The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations came into force on 1 January 2014.

These Regulations implement the revised provisions of the recast WEEE Directive sooner than necessary but also amend the existing UK system. The reason for the earlier date is to allow a switch to the new regime at the end of the current compliance year.
