As we reported last month, 16 January was our third annual ‘Register My Appliance Day’, with support from the Business Minister Andrew Griffiths MP.

Over four million people were sent a reminder by our members. Our allies, including Fire and Rescue Services nationwide, RoSPA, Trading Standards, Citizens Advice, Electrical Safety First and the National Landlords Association all put out supporting messages via press releases and on social media.

This year we were promoting the new streamlined version of www.registermyappliance.org.uk for smartphone users on the go. Whether coincidentally or not, we saw a much-enhanced presence on social media and a massive increase in the number of visits to the site on 16 January.

For this year’s YouGov Survey we had specifically asked about refrigeration products. Almost half of the respondents said that they always registered their appliances and, of those that had not, most said it was because they forgot, did not see the need, or thought it was too much hassle.
