The Directive that restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS) has a current exemption for second-hand products that is due to expire on 22 July 2019.
The European Commission is now proposing that this exemption should be extended beyond 2019 (and expanded to include spare parts) as part of its circular economy measures. No future deadline is mentioned but the Directive is scheduled for review before 2021 anyway.
