The latest amendment to the UK Wiring Regulations has been completed and is due for publication on 1 January 2015. This is an amendment to BS7671:2008. Any new installations designed after 1 June 2015 will have to comply with the amended version.
In England and Wales domestic electrical installations are regulated by Part P of the Building Regulations. This requires work to be carried out according to the fundamental principles of the British Standard. This is obviously very similar to the international standard and national standards in other countries.
Scotland has its own Building Regulations and their provisions for electrical safety are also deemed to be met by compliance with BS7671
