The revised Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 came into force on 6 April 2018.
Primarily designed to safeguard the public from the dangers arising from the use of gas. Regulation 36 (Duties of Landlords) requires landlords to ensure that gas appliances/flues and installation pipework are maintained in a safe condition and that an annual gas safety check is carried out on relevant gas appliances and their flues.
This has now been amended to clarify that a gas safety check may be carried out between 10 and 12 months after the previous check without amending the original check’s expiry date.
