The final technical report for the Evaluation of the Energy Labelling Directive and certain aspects of the Ecodesign Directive was published on the study website last month. The European Commission will now draft their report to the European Parliament and Council to include proposals for possible legislation that could be adopted by the end of this year.
Because of difficulties engaging with certain retailers in the Member States originally identified, the Commission’s planned consumer survey of potential label layouts is now being conducted in France, the Czech Republic, Portugal and Slovenia.
There are a dozen product categories with Energy Labelling Regulations under the existing Directive and another 10 groups have completed Preparatory Studies.
