The Ecodesign Preparatory Study on Smart Appliances was launched last year. The draft reports for Tasks 2, 3 and 4 are now available on the project website.

The second of three stakeholder meetings is scheduled for 19 November and AMDEA has been asked to provide DECC with any comments on the proposed reports before then.

The Cabinet Office asked if they could come and talk to us about demand side reduction linked to variable tariffs and we met them earlier this month. They also sent a list of questions (which we have circulated to our members) about the likely prospects for such reductions and what might help achieve them.

We have also been talking to BEAMA who have been very active in discussions about “smart grids” but are conscious that their members may have a different view from ours.
