The HEEST (Household Electrical and Electronic Equipment Servicing Training) Forum, is currently funded by AMDEA, techUK and retra (the association for independent electrical retailers). It met again this month and the morning session was followed by a meeting of the Trailblazer Employers Group.

Towards the end of 2015 the Group had submitted a draft apprenticeship standard for an electrical, electronic product service and installation engineer. The occupation covers the support, repair, installation and set-up of electrical and electronic products in both domestic and commercial properties.

Assuming that this draft standard is accepted the Group now has to design the assessment criteria and a sub-group has been created to work on this.
