The EU waste package will enter into force on 4 July 2018. It includes amendments to a suite of waste-related legislation: the Waste Framework Directive; the Packaging Waste Directive; the Landfill Directive; and the Directives on electrical and electronic waste (WEEE), end-of-life vehicles, and batteries.

In the UK, Defra’s 25-year plan aims to be even more ambitious but in the short term we are seeing proposals for initiatives to reduce single-use plastic.
